Ponti sits in a wider part of the northern Bormida valley where the landscape softens and the horizon expands. A place where the valley is less restrictive, it mellows in the form of meadows, fields, vines, and woodland, the ideal terrain for hiking and cycling.
Villa boasts a well-preserved mediaeval tower dating back to 1268, which stands out as a vertical landscape in a predominantly horizontal setting. It does not dominate in a severe way, it provides direction. Around the tower is a compact cluster of stone houses, reflecting an ancient layout that remains today.
While walls and traces of defences remain, it is the panoramic position that gives the modern visitor a sense of control: from here, you can observe movements on the valley floor and in the surrounding hills.
