Perletto sits high in the hills of the Asti Langa, in an elevated position on the ridge that leads up to the peak of Bric Puschera.
It is a compact village built of stone, where the altitude provides clear air with expansive views of the Bormida valley and the surrounding hills. The most obvious landmark is the mediaeval tower, open to visitors, which dominates the village.
From the summit there are views across the ridges and terraces that shape the landscape. A statue of the Madonna stands atop the tower, a symbolic presence which combines both defensive and devotional functions, transforming the ancient fortress into a spiritual and panoramic landmark.
Not far away is the Romanesque cemetery church of Sant'Antonio, dating back to the 12th century, with frescoes that add colour and depth to a simple building. It is one of those places that demands a moment of quiet reflection. A road runs halfway up the hillside between the stone terraces, a clear sign of the agricultural work that has enabled farmers to make these steep, rugged slopes cultivable.
This path connects Perletto to the parish church of Cortemilia, creating a direct link between two places that are both historically and spiritually connected. Perletto thrives in these high stony hills.
