Olmo Gentile is in the Alta Langa, over 700 metres above sea level, in a dominant position between the Bormida and Belbo valleys.
The defining feature of the village is the Olmo Gentile Tower, a well-preserved mediaeval structure that rises sharply above the roofs. Once a defensive stronghold, controlling the routes connecting different valleys, today it serves as a visual and symbolic landmark. Its vertical presence breaks the line of rolling hills and conveys the historical significance of the place.
The village is arranged in a linear fashion, with stone houses and open views across the beautiful landscape. The parish church of Saints Nazario and Celso is still an important focal point for this tiny village.
Olmo Gentile thrives at altitude. The trails that start from the village wind over the hills and through forest clearings, offering views that stretch toward the Alps on clear days.
