Cassinasco is a small place with big views Here, in the southernmost part of the province of Asti, the Langa hills open up above the Belbo Valley with views of the surrounding valleys and, on clear days, the Alps in the distance.
The village is small and lively, home to just a few hundred people, who maintain the delicate balance between history and modernity. Often called the "gateway to the Langa", Cassinasco is a starting point for exploring the vine-clad hills and valleys bathed in the Mediterranean sunshine.
History, panoramas, and ancient buildings
In the centre of the village is the mediaeval tower, part of the old castle, which now has an internal staircase and a viewing platform. Roughly 20 metres above the streets, the tower looks down on the houses below and the surrounding villages, with views over the hills, the mighty Alpine peak of Monviso in the distance, and the nearby valleys.
NNot far away, on a natural terrace overlooking Loazzolo, Bubbio, and Canelli, the Santuario dei Caffi embodies the religious history of the area, both as a place of pilgrimage and a repository of collective memory.
And all around, the vineyards mark the changing of the seasons. Rows of vines and farm tracks are ideal for exploring on foot, strolling through both nature and culture.
