In Denice, the medieval village has become an open-air museum . The ceramic works aren't collected in a single building: they appear on the facades, along the streets, in the squares, and on the wall supporting the tower's embankment.
The collection brings together the ancient fabric of the town with the research of Italian and international artists. Visiting is free, and suitable even for those who don't usually frequent museums, because art is discovered by walking.
What to see
The exhibition features 63 permanent ceramic works , each with a different style, technique, and scale. Look for them in homes and public spaces: the juxtaposition of contemporary surfaces, stone, and historic plasterwork is the museum's most original feature.
The walk is about half a kilometer long and takes at least thirty minutes, but it's worth taking it slowly to recognize signatures, materials, and themes. The works transform every detour into a small discovery.
Complete your visit by visiting the medieval tower , the Church of San Lorenzo, and the Oratory of San Sebastiano. The museum has no opening hours, as it coincides with the village's open spaces.
